Firmware M Series 5.04.020_241106 Released - Issues/Avoid

I updated a while back but inly jut reported here.

And yes effects different cameras, i have 5 colorvu and a cheap amazon tapo camera which has the same problem as the colourvu camera
What camera model with fw version does it not effect?

I've just pinged another e mail to Hikvision support uk, as it has been around 6 weeks now since I reported (and they confirmed) the problems.

I dont know exactly without checking, but its the same camera and firmware of a camera that it is effecting, so cant be cam/cam firmware related
That's interesting. I guess the only way to figure it out is if you have different settings between the two.

I just received a response:

"Hi John

This case is still under investigation, we will update you once we confirm the situation."

I 'd best not hold my breath then.....
Well I hope I don't get any new NVR's shipped to me with this FW version or else the first thing I'm going to do is have to downgrade it.

I'd be tempted to go back to the V4 firmware. I've been racking my brains to find a reason not to. None of the issues I mentioned at the start of this post (and that have been brought up elsewhere) exist in 4.63.020_230808. Pros and cons for downgrade to version 4:

Pro's
  1. AcuSense markers for motion work in that version locally
  2. AcuSense markers for motion work in that version for Hik-Connect
  3. Intercom Door Stations can be added easily for recording etc without workarounds
  4. Doing a VCA search can be quickly carried out in a few clicks without tarting around trying to manipulate the line or box corners
  5. Doing the above VCA search does not cause the clip, tag, zoom toolbar to stop appearing
  6. Zoning of cameras for Hik-Connect event notifications was already available in that version so you're not missing out on that
  7. Easy to use layout
Con's
  1. It's a year and a half out of date (but works)
  2. The very latest (very broken) V5.04.020 finally supports Safari on Mac for Live View and Playback

Still no updates on this makes me sad
Yeah it’s pretty unacceptable IMHO. Release a firmware that’s not thoroughly tested, acknowledge that there are repeatable issues, and then not resolve them in a timely manner. Unfortunately there seems to be a complete disconnect between regional support and HQ.

In the ‘tech zone’ of Hik Partner Pro this morning there was a post detailing how to filter events to Human on Hik Connect….I was compelled to enter into the comments that a firmware downgrade would be needed to utilise the feature.

OK - so I've just had an e mail from Hikvision support regarding this. There's no new firmware version but they've put a new build (250113) on the UK portal for the defective version (5.04.020). I hope it works... If anyone else on 5.04.020 needs it, it's here:

5.04.020_250113 (New Build)

The UK and global firmware pages currently still have the previous defective build on.

It's a bit quiet in the camera views but it seems to be working both locally and on Hik-Connect. I still find issues with some of the changes...

When playing back I expect it to start at midnight on the timeline. Previously if I want to filter to Human/Vehicle, I have the 'skip normal video' option selected in settings so that as soon as I select the filter it jumps to the next event marker. If something is of interest I would deselect the filter so that continual playback is resumed. That's no longer possible - as soon as you select playback, the Human/Vehicle filters are selected by default so if you have the 'skip normal' option selected, playback will start at the first motion event not midnight.

I plan to load this new release later today... overall, is it an improvement?
I'd say so. I had no choice previously than to revert to 5.03.010 as playback was no use to me without the human motion markers. By reverting to that version (5.03.101) I'd lost live view and playback in Safari that 5.04 had fixed. So the new build is an improvement but there's still a lot I don't like. When I've got some time I'll go through the other things that I found to see if anything else has changed and report back. At least one of the issues I'd made Hik support aware of when I reported the motion markers issue so will raise again if necessary.

I have the new release loaded now and I see the motion markers are now back.

What "minimum" settings are required on a G5 camera to have the motion markers? Which of these must be turned on:

  • 'Enable' - required as a minimum
  • 'Enable dynamic analysis' - not needed. It's used to visualise the motion in real time on the web ui or iVMS.
  • 'Detection Target' - needed to differentiate between generic, vehicle, human. I use just 'Human' in the event setup, so if I select the Human filter on either the local UI or Hik-Connect during playback it'll show markers; however if I select the Vehicle filter in playback there will be no result for me (as that info is not being passed back from the camera to the NVR when the detection target is not selected). So if you select neither, you won't get any result in Hik-Connect (other than using the 'Event' filter which will show everything). Correspondingly the Human/Vehicle filter in the local UI normal playback will show nothing (though event playback would show everything - human, vehicle, animals, leaves, shadows)
  • 'Notify Surveillance Center' - not needed at all for the markers; it's solely for the push event notification and snapshot/clip in Hik-Connect.
I use a motion setup covering most of the screen with the detection target set as 'Human' and 'Notify Surveillance Center' disabled combined with line crossing or intrusion only on my property with 'Notify Surveillance Center' enabled. Using two different events for on/off your property gives the best results for me; a notification when someone is on the property but also an easy means to search video for people outside of your boundary if needed (my road is too busy to select vehicle). TBH sometimes I find motion gives less false alerts than line crossing/intrusion for me. In an ideal world Hikvision would alter the firmware to allow 'Notify Surveillance Center' to be enabled/disabled per motion/line/intrusion area, rather than globally for each detection type.

Hmmmm - I take it all back...it was fixed and works with all of my cameras on 5.7.15 (G5). As soon as I updated one camera to 5.7.19 the motion markers are lost again (for that camera) in both Hik-Connect and locally. What a shit show

@johnfitzy are yours working, or was that why you were asking which options needed selecting?

This firmware is complete trash. G3 camera just generated 46 separate alarms as one person triggers a motion zone.

About the Dynamic Analysis, according to their instructions on the

they say: Notes: If search motion detection VCA playback, Enable Dynamic Analysis for Motion is necessary
Strange - I've never had it enabled but always had the function working (pre 5.7.15 and before). I'm not sure what's gone on this morning. All of my cameras were on G5 5.7.15 with motion detection markers working after installing the new build to fix the issue. As soon as I've changed one camera to 5.7.19 motion markers are no longer displayed, downgraded it back to 5.7.15 and it's still not working. I've no faith that Hikvision can release anything that works at the moment...

Yes, this situation drives me crazy since last June.
Sometimes I re-install v5.7.15 to work properly. Sometimes also I need to set everything up again from NVR or just reboot the NVR
