Firmware M Series 5.04.020_241106 Released - Issues/Avoid

Similar issue for NXI-K latest firmware. The Playback timeline when entering in "All" state shows no Events in timeline.
By selecting Event(red) or Person(green) or Vehicle(yellow) the events, without the blue timeline are seen OK. By deselecting previous selection of Event or by now enabling again the "All" option, everything is fine. Timeline and events(red green yellow)
In this instance with the new M firmware you can turn on, off, select, deselect anything and it will never show motion events for any search after the update. All searches before the update are fine.

FYI.... this version, Firmware__V5.04.020_241106 is now generally available at all major portals (well at least the 4 portals that I checked)

Also, FWIW, my Win laptop reports the "dav" file is identical, byte for byte, to the "dav" file that JB1970 made available earlier. Thx for that JB.

And, as usual, no release notes. Just another thing, HIK needs to fix.

I’ve been checking regularly all day but will check that again now. Disappointing if it’s the same build I loaded. I could factory reset and reflash that version but I doubt the results would be any different.

I sent a message to Hik support regarding the issues and the fact that the firmware was missing on their website. I’m sure this thread will be ancient history by the time they respond with an automated ‘case closed’ e mail.

Something new or another security vulnerability ?? Hopefully not the later. But I noticed my NVR @ v5.04.020 is now listening for a connection on 10 new ports:
  • 6111, 6113, 10010 --> 10017
As best I can tell, these are undocumented for the NVR..... although it seems HikCentral might use these port numbers.

In any event, I did not notice these 10 ports on earlier v5.03.xx releases.

So it begs the question of HIK, if HIK Developers are listening:
  • what is the intent / purpose of ports # 6111, 6113, 10010 thru 10017 ??
Below is a snippet taken from an SSH session...... the ports in question are highlighted in blue. Extraneous lines have been removed.

@sportster where are you seeing this? I've checked:

  • UK Portal
  • UK Product Page
  • UK Support - Firmware search
  • Global Product Page
  • Global Support - Firmware search
It's not on any of those sites so I'm wondering if there are portals I'm unaware of.

Edit: I've found it on the EU product page but nowhere else. It's the same build and file size as I have currently so I'll have to downgrade or wait months for the next update.

hmmmm again ....
It's possible that the firmware is fine and something has gone astray on my system during the update. I've not known that happen before, and my setup is fairly standard. It'll be interesting to know others experiences once it's more generally available.

Dude I take the summer off... love new releases in fall... there's as an old joke, see you after the fall

Well it's now available on the UK sites so I guess I'm stuck with this version.

- BROKEN. HIK-CONNECT TIMELINE MARKERS. Since update, clicking the Human and/or Vehicle icons in the Hik-Connect app no longer populates the playback timeline with markers for motion detection (only line crossing). This feature still works when selecting a playback timeline period prior to the update and clicking the icon(s)
Did you verify that the motion events are still setup correctly after doing the FW upgrade? When I updated my NVR to V5.03.020 build 240904, I noticed I wasn't getting any alerts in Hik-Connect when the NVR was armed. I looked through the NVR settings and I saw the event rules for motion and intrusion that I had set were disabled. Some of the cameras even had the areas drawn eliminated.

Yeah nothing changed

Here's another bug in this version. I've updated the OP:

- BUG. PLAYBACK LOCAL UI. In the local UI select Playback then select any one camera - the timeline is missing/empty if that cameras timeline doesn't have any event markers. Uncheck that camera and select another - the timeline is present as expected (regardless of whether there any event markers or not). Deselect that and reselect the first camera you selected - the timeline is now present as it should be. This is repeatable. You can't just deselect and reselect the same camera again as the timeline will still be missing - you have to pick a different camera.

This appears to be caused because the Human and Vehicle filter is applied by default and the skip unrelated video is turned on. Maybe the system looks for the events before loading the timeline, finds none and doesn't load it. Deselecting the Human Vehicle filter icons momentarily then back on again will get the timeline to load, just as picking any other camera will.

And another:

- BUG. PLAYBACK LOCAL UI. In the local UI start Playback, click the gear wheel in the lower right corner and change the Play Strategy to Skip Normal Video. Click OK to Save. Now close Playback on the toolbar at the top of the screen and re-open it; video will play continuously. Clicking the gear wheel and going back into the Play Strategy settings you'll see that Skip Normal Video has turned itself back off, despite being previously 'saved'

JB..... I'm thinking from your later post, you have this sorted...... so this is just an FYI for any new followers watching this thread. The process I followed:

Late yesterday, I checked for v5.04.020 on the Product Pages of "DS-7616NI-M2" or "DS-7616NI-M2/16P" at these countries:
  • Singapore
  • Philippines
  • UK & Ireland
  • USA
  • Australia (this site had on old v5.03.000 version, so I skipped this one)
It's a multi-step process to get the ZIP file. Click on the product page, scroll down, click on Resources, click on Firmware, click on the download Icon........ no doubt we all suffer through these same steps.

I downloaded the ZIP file from each country site, extracted the "dav" file, and ran the file compare "FC" utility on WIN, comparing each "dav" file to what JB1970 provided earlier. The FC utility indicated the "dav" files were identical.

Under the covers, it's likely the HIK countries' URL points to the same ZIP file, but you never know how HIK has things set up. :) Cheers!

And just add insult to injury...With regard to the motion detection timeline markers that are no longer available on either the local HDMI connected monitor or Hik-Connect; they're present and working perfectly on the WebUI using MacOS Safari which couldn't even live view or playback previously.

This is from the USA site:

DS-7616NI-M2/16P
https://www.hikvision.com/us-en/pro...-video-recorders/pro-series/ds-7616ni-m2-16p/

DS-9632NI-M8
https://www.hikvision.com/us-en/pro...work-video-recorders/pro-series/ds-9632ni-m8/

iDS-9632NXI-M8/X
https://www.hikvision.com/us-en/pro...-video-recorders/pro-series/ids-9632nxi-m8-x/

DS-7616NI-M2/16P & DS-9632NI-M8 have the same V5.04.020_241106 FW currently on the site which it should be because they are both M series and NI NVR's. The iDS-9632NXI-M8/X appears to have the same FW (since they named it identical) but when you download it the name of the zip folder is different. It's also quite a larger package (Similar to the iDS cams).

When I looked at the file JB uploaded, the dav file does match in size compared to the DS-7616NI-M2/16P on the USA site. The name was different but maybe JB changed it for organization.

Has anyone else other than JB tried this FW out yet? I don't have a test nvr on hand and usually do end up testing it on my personal nvr prior to loading it up on clients... but with all the issues JB is pointing out I'm quite hesitant. And what's up with the ports...

Yes thats just the way I name them for storage. The file loaded was S3000611039 as shown in your image.

I've gone through everything other than downgrade the firmware. I've re-installed it, checked all settings (they were all as set previously), disabled/re-enabled all settings with regard to motion detection, HDD database rebuild (on the off chance that there was some VCA data corruption) but the faults remain. Having seen that this has been release everywhere I have zero confidence that this will be resolved. I've found more issues/changes/bugs in this version than any firmware version I've installed on any camera or NVR model in the last eleven years...
