Hi this probably makes no sense, I want my cameras to stay on the 192.168.1.xx subnet , but they keep jumping over to the 192.168.188.xx , the managed switches seem to use 192.168.2.xx, what do I do here, and how to keep all on the 192.168.1.xx , thanks in advance

@blandy,
How many subnets do you have? It seems like you have at least 2 DHCP servers on the same network.

Thank you for the reply David, how do I set it up that there is just one subnet or one server whichever makes sense, I can't find a relevant online course about these things sorry

I'm struggling to understand what you're telling & "not" telling us:
  1. you tagged this thread with HIK-Connect. Your questions seem unrelated to HIK-Connect. Am I missing something ?
  2. you've indicated you have (maybe) 3 subnets in play. Yet, you're trying to get to 1 subnet. What network mask is in use:
    • 255.255.255.0 ?
    • 255.255.0.0 ?
    • or ?
  3. do you have multiple DHCP servers in play ? You omitted addressing David's DHCP Server concern.
  4. you're using managed switches. Nice. Are you using 1 VLAN or multiple VLANS ? Tell us about what ports are configured to what VLANs.
  5. what's the specific NVR model # ?
To work your problem any further, in addition to the above answers, I'd need to see an accurate network diagram depicting:
  • how ALL your devices are cabled together (router(s), switch(es), NVR(s), camera(s)). Hand drawn diagram is fine.
and maybe we can proceed further.
