Pro Series with Smart Hybrid Light - Review and First impressions

Ah possibly this you were referring to

Thankyou
I would hope that it’s a step up from the g2 hybrid. To be honest just parity would be good.

My issue was I had a warranty replacement of a colorvu camera which had issues in WDR mode and mistakenly swapped it for a hybrid.

Some of the features look good, hopefully it won’t be a long time till they appear in the UK

I’m really disappointed in this camera to be honest. In pure ColorVu mode at night the smaller lense is materially worse than the non hybrid version. I feel a bit cheated to be honest.

I normally put a lot of research into hikvision cameras but I made an assumption that it was a later model and wouldn’t have a poorer lens. I will look to order the older version to replace it
I'm a new adopter of Hikvision cameras and recently purchased the 8MP hybrid for my driveway. As it turns out, at night, the street light opposite my house provides enough supplementary light that the camera can stay in ColorVu mode. To me the quality is pretty good (as I don't know any different) but knowing that the G3 is in the pipeline, I will probably move the camera to the back garden where it is pitch black. At least the hybrid will be useful there!

Interestingly the colorvu turret looks to have a tiny sensor. One of the first things I noticed when unboxing the hybrid was the lens looked really small. I assumed it was newer technology…

This may just be marketing material that’s inaccurate but I’m not so sure.

Obviously I don’t know if that’s a 4mp or 4k etc… but it’s not a good sign

That’s a good plan. Don’t get me wrong the quality is still very good, but it’s noticeably inferior to what I’d had in place for 2.5 years. So to take a step back on my warranty replacement was annoying.

I’m not sure what you are looking at? The sensor size is in the specs; it sits behind the lens so you cannot see it in a photo. Currently they use a 16mm lens sat over that 1/1.8” sensor.

I’d not seen the specs yet. Ok so it’s using the same sensor size as the hybrid cameras. That’s a shame

Hikvision UK website is now listing the new EasyIP4.0+ colorvu 3 cameras..

The main landing page mentions a 13 Feb 10am launch event..

any idea of pricing? or any hands on?

I can't find the bit that mentions 13 Feb launch event, however I'd guess that's just an announcement like the previous one that Phil posted last year. There's nothing at all on any of the UK trade suppliers websites yet. Usually the models go on and show 'awaiting stock' some time before they're actually available but there's nothing at all yet.

It’s in the news carousel on main page.

Yes that looks to be the same as the previous one but intended for a UK audience. I doubt we’ll get any dates.

Edit: …..though it’s good to see the models listed on the UK site so we can be sure what will be available to us here

It'll be good to compare the new G3H against the G2H when they arrive. The specs for minimum illumination look good. How things have progressed in a few years:

4MP Turrets
  • 2347G1 - 1/1.8” - 0.0014 lux
  • 2347G2 - 1/1.8” - 0.0005 lux
  • 2347G2H - 1/1.8” - 0.0005 lux (no change to previous)
  • 2347G3H - 1/1.8” - 0.0001 lux

8MP Turrets
  • 2387G2 - 1/1.2” - 0.0005 lux
  • 2387G2H - 1/1.8” - 0.0008 lux (poorer due to smaller sensor)
  • 2387G3H - 1/1.8” - 0.0005 lux
The 8MP model is back to the same minimum lux value as the older, larger 1/1.2" sensor modelled G2 (ColorVu only). The standout from the specs however would be the 4MP model - 0.0001 lux down from 0.0005 lux on the current model.
