Need help updating cams and nvr

What’s ddns? Do I need that set?
No. It's a different method of connecting. By default Hik-Connect uses P2P. If you configure DDNS you enter the ports and password but it's not necessary.

Going back a step further (basics). You have a static IP address of 192.168.0.87 set on your NVR. It's quite likely that the address falls within the DHCP pool on the router. The router assigns addresses automatically from that pool (group) of addresses in order and is unaware of whether you've statically assigned an address to a device. Is it possible that some other device is being assigned that address? Clearly that will completely trash your Hik-Connect connection when there's a clash. For giggles change the address of the NVR to 192.168.0.250 which should be sufficiently high enough in the range to avoid a clash (assuming you've not given that address to anything else on your network). An IP scanner can show all addresses currently in use but of course it can only see devices in use, and so devices that are not currently on or not connected (mobile devices out of range) would not show.

Another thing that wasn't asked - have you got a VPN or firewall of any sort running on the phone (or iCloud private relay included)?

Just tried that new on the ipv4 section in pic. It didn’t make any difference so as I tried to change it back it wasn’t happening kept coming up with that message but after a few try’s it worked

Emmm on that vpn note! I did download vpn a few weeks ago when my son got banned from snap chat it’s a 6month ban so downloaded a vpn to see if he can open a new account using that I didn’t work so I unsubscribed and deleted the app. But after you saying that it was around the time this happened mate

Changing the IP address (IPv4 Address) to 192.168.0.250 would not bring up an error message asking you to key in a valid gateway. The gateway is 192.168.0.1, so the only way that message came up is if you typed an IP address in that started other than 192.168.0. You just needed to change '87' to '250' and save, nothing else.

The point is that all of those devices have an IP address that is set by your Sky Hub automatically and the address you set yourself on the NVR could clash.

The easiest way to avoid that in your case is just to use the DHCP switch so that your Sky hub assigns an address thats guaranteed not to clash.

Turn on the DHCP switch and Save, then set the DNS address as before (8.8.8.8)

If I google what’s my ip address it’s come up that iam in a area called st Helen’s that’s 20 miles away and ip is different
That's irrelevant, it's showing your external IP address from Sky - nothing to do with your internal network.

You can check in the settings of your phone to ensure it didn't leave a VPN profile. If in doubt just put Hik-Connect on another device such as a tablet and sign in to see if the problem is there (to rule out your device)

I've exhausted possible causes so I'm out of ideas for you.

Just for testing, can you change your Wifi security protocol to WPA2 Personal?
There was many issues with older devices(older than a year)
Connection and disconnection might cause this that you think it is a delay...

Thanks for all the help guys much appreciated I have tried everything as above. Nothing solves it. May even be a problem with the nvr but either way it still all works just got to be patient with it maybe when a new update for the app comes out it might solve it but in the meantime will live with it. Thanks again.

I'd bet the solution is somewhere here already... sometimes it's good to take a break from these things and when you look again the answer jumps right out!

Ye hopefully mate. I done a vid just so can see better what I mean. When I 1st click on the app you can see straight away the cameras but I can click on anything so I have to swipe down to load the page up and then it just loads. If click on notifications u can see them but again look closer it’s just loading I can click on anything until it’s finished. It’s like the WiFi is poor but I even tried taking off every device on the network so was just the nvr left and still the same . Oh well hopefully might just sort itself out. See link for vid.

Test with everything connected. It’s higher when take other devices off it though

I’ve had issues with Sky broadband before on customer sites. It could be worth factory resetting their hub to rule that out.

I’d see connections drop at 2AM for 3 hours. The eco settings on Sky TV boxes (that act as access points) turn off WiFi during the night unless changed. Bizarrely when that happens it knocks out one of the two wired LAN ports on the main hub. Sky deny this but I’ve seen it several times on different sites.

There’s another minor Hik-Connect update available today (though I doubt that’ll resolve your issue)

But your phone is not and the app needs permission to access devices on the local network. Firstly you need to ensure the app has permission.

For an iPhone that would be in Settings > Apps > Hik-Connect and turn on the 'Local Network' switch.

For an Android Open a browser > Go to Apple Store > Buy an iPhone > follow the above

I'm reviewing this thread, and I see @JB1970 just slipped this ^^^^ in and nobody seemed to notice... I can't stop cracking up LOL LOL LOL

This is probably not relevant, but I notice in your video you have 99+ unread notifications... I wonder how many there are? Reminds me of my neighbor with 20K+ unread e-mail messages she's planning to read eventually... you're configured to get notifications for basic motion events so maybe there are too many old/unread notifications, and the app is bogging down trying to load them?

I would try deleting all the outstanding notifications. It's long odds but it can't hurt to try.

I'm a confirmed Apple fanboy. Someone hands me an Android to do anything on and my head is scrambled.

'Apple - it just works'

Ye WiFi does sometimes go off in the night as when it does our ring alarm tells us the connection was lost and back up.

I cleared all them notifications no diff.

Ha ha ye I noticed that burst out laughing when seen it but it’s also very true

hik connect updates are automatic arnt they? So should just update on its own?

In the settings of your sky boxes, sky minis. Make sure power save settings are set to 'active' (it's the opposite of how it sounds - active keeps the wifi active rather than shutting it down for 3 hours in the early morning). That setting can cause one of the two ports on the Sky hub to go off at the same time, disconnecting any devices attached to it (depending on the model of hub). I've seen this numerous times.

They are but you don't get them instantly, they're staged. Often if you search Hik-Connect on the App Store and click it to open the details page, the 'open' link will change to 'update'. I did that this morning and found an update.

Arrr ok ye will do that mate thanks.

My app is updated already.

Off subject can you have notifications for just humans and cars? Or does it have to be motion.

I get notifications for bloody cats birds and my heating boiler it’s vented out front of my house in basement when it’s on steam goes over my camera causing it to go off a lot. Be good if could have it set to just humans and cars like but don’t think it’s possible. I did change sensitivity down to 0 and still goes off
