No. It's a different method of connecting. By default Hik-Connect uses P2P. If you configure DDNS you enter the ports and password but it's not necessary. What’s ddns? Do I need that set?
Just tried that new on the ipv4 section in pic. It didn’t make any difference so as I tried to change it back it wasn’t happening kept coming up with that message but after a few try’s it workedGoing back a step further (basics). You have a static IP address of 192.168.0.87 set on your NVR. It's quite likely that the address falls within the DHCP pool on the router. The router assigns addresses automatically from that pool (group) of addresses in order and is unaware of whether you've statically assigned an address to a device. Is it possible that some other device is being assigned that address? Clearly that will completely trash your Hik-Connect connection when there's a clash. For giggles change the address of the NVR to 192.168.0.250 which should be sufficiently high enough in the range to avoid a clash (assuming you've not given that address to anything else on your network). An IP scanner can show all addresses currently in use but of course it can only see devices in use, and so devices that are not currently on or not connected (mobile devices out of range) would not show.
Another thing that wasn't asked - have you got a VPN or firewall of any sort running on the phone (or iCloud private relay included)?

Emmm on that vpn note! I did download vpn a few weeks ago when my son got banned from snap chat it’s a 6month ban so downloaded a vpn to see if he can open a new account using that I didn’t work so I unsubscribed and deleted the app. But after you saying that it was around the time this happened mate
Changing the IP address (IPv4 Address) to 192.168.0.250 would not bring up an error message asking you to key in a valid gateway. The gateway is 192.168.0.1, so the only way that message came up is if you typed an IP address in that started other than 192.168.0. You just needed to change '87' to '250' and save, nothing else.Just tried that new on the ipv4 section in pic. The point is that all of those devices have an IP address that is set by your Sky Hub automatically and the address you set yourself on the NVR could clash.Oh also I don’t have any other devices with ip address set. I have ring doorbell iPads phone Sonos WiFi pod alarm system tvs all connected via WiFi
That's irrelevant, it's showing your external IP address from Sky - nothing to do with your internal network. If I google what’s my ip address it’s come up that iam in a area called st Helen’s that’s 20 miles away and ip is different
You can check in the settings of your phone to ensure it didn't leave a VPN profile. If in doubt just put Hik-Connect on another device such as a tablet and sign in to see if the problem is there (to rule out your device)Emmm on that vpn note! I've exhausted possible causes so I'm out of ideas for you.
But your phone is not and the app needs permission to access devices on the local network. Firstly you need to ensure the app has permission.
For an iPhone that would be in Settings > Apps > Hik-Connect and turn on the 'Local Network' switch.
For an Android Open a browser > Go to Apple Store > Buy an iPhone > follow the above
If click on notifications u can see them but again look closer it’s just loading I can click on anything until it’s finished.
I'm a confirmed Apple fanboy. Someone hands me an Android to do anything on and my head is scrambled.I'm reviewing this thread, and I see @JB1970 just slipped this ^^^^ in and nobody seemed to notice... I can't stop cracking up LOL LOL LOL
In the settings of your sky boxes, sky minis. Make sure power save settings are set to 'active' (it's the opposite of how it sounds - active keeps the wifi active rather than shutting it down for 3 hours in the early morning). That setting can cause one of the two ports on the Sky hub to go off at the same time, disconnecting any devices attached to it (depending on the model of hub). I've seen this numerous times.Ye WiFi does sometimes go off in the night as when it does our ring alarm tells us the connection was lost and back up.
They are but you don't get them instantly, they're staged. Often if you search Hik-Connect on the App Store and click it to open the details page, the 'open' link will change to 'update'. I did that this morning and found an update.hik connect updates are automatic arnt they? So should just update on its own?
