Hi,
I have a Hikvision DS-7608NI-K2-8P and its just started to reboot every 15 to 30 minutes.
Some logs say "abnormal shutdown", but now seeing "System Running State".
It's 3 years old, and lives in a data cabinet with fan ventilation.

I thought it might be over heating, so put it on the bench and opened it up, and it's still doing it.
One of the drives, WD 8TB purple, it's hot, but nothing excessive.

If I disconnect the 4 PoE cameras it runs ok, could it be a power supply problem?

FW is 3.4.106 Build 190702, when I click <update> it says "current version is the latest", I find that hard to believe.

Anyone any idea what the problem might be?

Cheers

Paul

Hi @HorizonIT

I can see you are running quite old firmware, you will see all the available firmware versions for your NVR at the Hikvision Download Portal.

We would definitely recommend updating the firmware as that can fix a number of issues, but as you are so far behind we would recommend updating the firmware one version at a time in the below order:

V3.4.112 build 200604
V4.30.005 build200628 EUI
V4.31.105 build210727
V4.32.110 build211009
V4.71.005 build220524
V4.72.107 build220914

Once you've updated through all of these versions and you are on the latest, let us know if the reboot issue is still there.

Hi Dan,

Thanks for the reply, I've followed the upgrade path and the NVR seems to be behaving itself now.

But, a new problem has arisen.
I have 4 cameras tiled all displaying sub-stream, if I double click one of the cameras it displays:
"Not Enough decoding Resource. Please switch to sub-stream"

I've been through the camera and reduced the bitrate on most of the cameras.

This used to work fine on the previous firmware, any ideas?

Hi @HorizonIT

What camera models do you have?
Are all the cameras directly connected to the PoE on the NVR?

Hi
I have 4 PoE and 2 IP Cameras.
Types are:
1. DS-2CD2385G1-I
2. DS-2CD2342WD-I
3. DS-2CD2385G1-I
4. DS-2CD2347G1-LU
5. DS-2CD2432F-IW
6. DS-2CD2442FWD-IW

I've lowered the video quality and data rates on the cameras, but it is still doing it.
It was running fine before the FW update.

Cheers

Paul

Thanks @HorizonIT

For the 2 IP cameras, can you open the Hikvision SADP Tool and confirm what firmware versions those 2 cameras are running?

For the 4 directly connected PoE cameras, can you login to the NVR, configure Virtual Host, login to each camera (if they were activated by Plug & Play they will likely use the NVRs password), and confirm the firmware version used by each of those 4 cameras?

1. DS-2CD2385G1-I V5.6.3 Build 190923
2. DS-2CD2342WD-I V5.5.0 Build 170725
3. DS-2CD2385G1-I V5.6.2 Build 190701
4. DS-2CD2347G1-LU V5.5.160 Build 210108
5. DS-2CD2432F-IW V5.4.5 Build 170123
6. DS-2CD2442FWD-IW V5.5.0 build 170725

Thanks @HorizonIT

Below are the latest firmware versions for each of your cameras, when the NVR is running the latest firmware but some/all of the cameras are running older firmware the mismatch can cause many different technical glitches.

1. DS-2CD2385G1-I V5.6.3 Build 190923 --- V5.6.820 220519
2. DS-2CD2342WD-I V5.5.0 Build 170725 --- V5.5.82 190909
3. DS-2CD2385G1-I V5.6.2 Build 190701 --- V5.6.820 220519
4. DS-2CD2347G1-LU V5.5.160 Build 210108 --- Are you sure this is a G1 model? It looks to be using a 2347G2 firmware.
5. DS-2CD2432F-IW V5.4.5 Build 170123 --- V5.4.800 210813 (try this one but it might not be supported by your specific model)
6. DS-2CD2442FWD-IW V5.5.0 build 170725 --- V5.5.82 190909

Try updating to these latest firmware versions and let us know if you are still having issues with all/some of the cameras.

(also, let us know whether the 2347 camera is a G1 or G2 model)

OK, upgrades finished, but #2 and #6 are now displaying an error message when I try and login with Firefox, K-Meleon, etc...
Your browser is not supported.
Use the latest version of the browser to access the web interface: Internet Explorer

#5 didn't like the firmware

#3 will still not go into full screen mode on the NVR

Hi @HorizonIT

Modern browsers like Firefox and Chrome no longer support the plug-in used by older Hikvision models like your K-series NVR, so to access with a browser you will need to Internet Explorer (or Edge in IE mode).

Alternatively, you can use Hikvision desktop software - iVMS-4200 - to access the NVR and cameras.

Many browsers have not supported the plugins for many years, K-Meleon does support them, but it is the firmware not the browser that is displaying this message.

Okay,

Can you please try installing the LocalServiceComponents plug-in?

Where exactly are you seeing that browser error message? Is it when trying to view the live views in the NVR or when accessing/logging into the cameras directly?

Already installed.

I've checked the returned page source code and it's coming from the camera:

Thanks @HorizonIT

We've never seen this error message before, we think it is actually specific to K-Meleon which we've never used before.

Have you actually tried accessing the NVR/cameras with any other browser? Do you get the same or similar messages in any other browser?

Are you using a Windows 10/11 PC to access the NVR/cameras?

Okay,

Do you have access to Internet Explorer? Are you using a Windows or Linux device?
