Hi everyone,

Would there be any issues with connecting 16 cameras to a POE switch and then one Cat6 cable going back to the NVR which is about 50 metres away?

I'm wondering about bandwidth issues or anything else to consider?

Thankyou.

Hi @Sonic007

What NVR model do you have?

Is the switch connected to the local network or were you planning to just connect the PoE switch directly to the NVR?

Hi Dan, Thankyou for your reply.

The plan would be to connect all cameras in building 1 (approx 16 cameras) to the POE switch and then Cat6 cable straight to the NVR located in building 2 which is about 50-60 metres away.
No Camera data would be going through other parts of the network.

NVR would be the Hikvision DS7732NIM4 32channel 8K M Series.

I was concerned about all 16 cameras traffic going down one cable to the NVR.

Hi @Sonic007

It shouldn't be a problem.

If you were to have 32 cameras connected to the NVR remotely over the local network then technically the data from all 32 of those cameras would be coming into the NVR via its single LAN connection, so 16 cameras from a PoE switch shouldn't be a problem.

Connecting a PoE switch directly to the NVR does take some unique configuration of the NVR, see this YouTube video that explains what you need to do.
