Please connect your laptop to your general LAN - not a camera port on the NVR.
Use the Internet Explorer browser (the icon is a blue e with a gold flash over it), in your screenshot above you have used Microsoft's Edge browser, which will not work.
Using the IE browser login to the Configuration section of your NVR.
Then following this tutorial for enabling Virtual Host:
[Tutorial] Using a Hikvision NVR's "Virtual Host" Feature

Once that is enabled you will see links at the right in the 'Camera Management' section within the NVR's Config area which allow you to open a new browser tab for each camera.
Those tabs are effectively direct to the camera (even though it is plugged into the NVR).
Via the link/tab for your ANPR camera you can access its additional settings.

I connected my LAN cable from laptop directly into nvr LAN port and not camera port as suggested .
I used Internet Explorer browser as suggested by Phil this time .
Still getting the login prohibited response even with the correct details
Any more suggestions lads ???

Okay guys I finally managed to login to cameras/nvr via laptop and after selecting anpr camera there does not seem to be the options to configure settings as other members have configured , I am totally lost at this stage ! Attached photos of the configure menu and also photo of the anpr serial number but I have been told I should be able to configure these settings via web

Looking at your screenshots you are not logged in directly to the camera's WebGui, you are in fact logged into the AVR which is why you are not getting the full settings.
To get advanced settings you must log into the Camera's WebGui :(
Take a look at my screenshots and you'll see the difference.

I finally managed to get into the correct section where I can adjust the settings on the camera , I just need to figure out which settings to adjust for the camera for the best possible results
Thanks guys for the help

Did you solve your problem i would like to purchase this camera model, DS-2CD4A26FWD-IZ/P, to read a license plate of moving car (3 - 12 mph)

That is a super quality image for night, i have tried your settings but it does not work for me at night, the only way i can get the number plates read at night are using my setting below, but i do not get a viewable image though as screen is pitch black until a car goes past, even still only the plate is viewable. Any adjustment to gain a clear picture results in no plate reads. i.e when i increase gain above 20 or turn on WDR My current set up as below. (getting 99% of plates day and night with these settings)

My Camera is set approx 8-10 metres above ground and reads plates on the rad with fast moving cars at an angle accross 2 lanes (forward and reverse) 20 - 30 metres away.

I would like some input and any reccommendation so the camera can also be used to monitor surroundings also at night.

Here is my current setting which works night and day on both forward and back reg plates.

Thanks Malford, i tried your settings but it didn’t work for me at night at all, image was clear but no readings, Maybe because im monitoring a main road with fast moving cars (30-40mph). However i have managed to get the picture quite better by doing some tweaks in the image adjustment based on your settings see picture attached

The video when streaming is a little blurry so i was wondering whether frame rate and/or bitrate might need tweaking for maximum performance. My settings are as below for the ANPR.

Main stream
Resolution 1920*1080 (1080p)
Bitrate type - Variable
Video Quality- Highest
Frame rate 25fps
Max Bitrate Mode - General
Max Bitrate (kbps) 512
Max Bitrate range 6399-10666 (kbps)
Video encoding H.265

Cheers.

I have no issues with high beams. Its reading all plates right now. Expect for the odd one where it will show a clear picture of the number but will list it incorrectly. i.e 11 together (two ones), will leave it on these settings for now. I doubt I will get a clearer image as ive been through most settings now.

It is impressive that Hikvision's technology is able to deliver plates when they are so tiny in the views.
From my longstanding experience of ANPR we would need to set a much larger image to get a plate read i.e the aim was to fill the view with the front of car width, the resulting plate then being about 1/3rd of screen width.
My STEP 1 for performance improvement would be to optical zoom-in.
[NB If you do play with that, please note where your scene edges are now so that you can return to same later if you prefer]
