Now that we have the QNAP set up with a camera streaming and recording on to our hard disks, we need to check for upgrades. Visit the QNAP website to download the latest firmware for your device; just choose it from the drop down menus on the page.
Once you have found the correct upgrade, download to your computer and extract the file. Now you need to access the system configuration on the QNAP. Click the link at the top right that says << Traditional Mode >>.
Once on this page, over to the right under the tab << System Tools >> there is another link to << System Upgrade >>.
Clicking this link will bring you to the upgrade page. At the bottom of the page it will either say << Browse >> or << Choose File >>, depending on your firmware.
Click to browse your files, find the firmware that you have just download and select it.
Now click << Update System >>.

Once you have found the correct upgrade, download to your computer and extract the file. Now you need to access the system configuration on the QNAP. Click the link at the top right that says << Traditional Mode >>.

Click to browse your files, find the firmware that you have just download and select it.

The file will now be uploaded.

The QNAP will then go through the different installation procedures.

Within a few minutes all of the processes should say 'Finished'.

At this point, you will be prompted to restart the QNAP.

Click << Yes >>.

Your QNAP will now perform a reboot and configuration.
Here's a quick video of what the QNAP does during this period.
Note: This video has been sped up 12x. This process usually takes between 5-15 minutes at the most.
The webpage will now restart and go back to the home screen. (You may need to enter your login details again.)
As you can see, the interface has now changed and is up to date.
