Hello, please forgive my ignorance as I am new to this. I have recently installed the above camera, along with my NVR (DS-7608NI-K1/8P). and I just cannot seem to be able to get the auto tracking to work. I have successfully logged into my camera through virtual host on the NVR, however the login portal seems to be different than for every video that I have seen for the set up of this feature.

This is the UI i am faced with when i log into my ptz camera, i have searched this for 'auto tracking' to no avail. The screenshot below is the page with which all online tutorials are met, only they say 'ptz' on the left menu. and its also the same page format i get when i log into my other fixed cameras (hence no PTZ menu) (3x DS-2CD2347G2-LU)

My question is why does my PTZ have a different log in portal/UI on login?
And how can i activate auto tracking on my PTZ camera?
My camera firmware is up to date - i checked this.
I'm not sure about my NVR because the product code (DS-7608NI-K1/8P) when i search for firmware, i am given two options, one for DS-7608NI-K1/8P(D) and one for DS-7608NI-K1/8P(C) and i don't know which one mine is? It doesn't say on the NVR 'about' section.

Any help would be massively appreciated, i've made this purchase in an attempt to ID people who keep coming onto my estate and trying to open car doors and garages, and without the tracking and zoom its pretty much useless.

Thank you

Hi @JMP95

If you login to the PTZ and go to Configuration > System > Basic Information, can you please confirm the firmware version the camera is currently using?

Hey, I’ve got the exact same problem as the op had but on a DS-2DE7A232IW-AEB. The current firmware is V5.8.0 build 230413. Has smart tracking been disabled on the cameras through the new firmware perhaps?

Hi @Jdmspec

There is actually a slightly newer firmware version for this PTZ model - V5.8.0_231109 - the missing auto-tracking settings could be a glitch with your current firmware that might have been patched with this latest build of the firmware.

Hey Dan,

Thanks very much for checking that out for me. I looked and seen the recent build date and didn’t check any further. I’ll check in the morning and report back in case anyone else comes across this. Cheers

I haven’t looked any further since the firmware update. The camera is just for demo at our shop so it wasn’t absolutely necessary. I do know hikvision have disabled auto tracking on most ptz cameras through firmware updates, Its also happened on a DS-2DE54251W-AE I have at home as well

How annoying when they still advertise it as a feature. Feels like they are mis-selling to people. I tried a firmware downgrade but that also seems blocked

I’d read about the feature being blocked, but my PTZ camera still has it. DS-2DE4A425IW-DE I don’t often use it, but it’s handy to pop it on from time to time.

Oh without a doubt, I think it’s a ptz’s best feature. I wonder what firmware your camera is on? And don’t update it any further, if I’m right you’ll probably lose that feature!

Mines on V5.8.0 build 230519. Came packaged new with that firmware and no auto tracking. Installed the same camera a few months prior for a client and it had auto tracking, so I’m guessing it must be the very latest firmware.

I contacted Hikvision support and managed to find the setting (may be purely my fault). This isn’t available on the standard motion detection but can be used in with any of the smart events/tracking like intrusion detection, line crossing etc. Got it all working in the end

That’s great to hear Trevor, I have smart detection setup on my own camera but don’t recall seeing auto tracking in any of the menus. Can you point me to the right menu?

Should have provided more information, sorry.

So to get this working, I had to do it directly on the camera, there is no option for me on the NVR. I use the NVR for basic motion detection.

Then on the camera directly, I set up VCA > Smart Event > 2 Set Application > Smart Event > (choose which event type) > (setup the rule) > Arming Schedule and Linkage > Tracking Linkage

You can also setup in the top right corner from that page the advance setting for tracking too like how much to zoom etc

Nice right up Trever123. I tried this on my DS-2DE5425IW-AE ptz at home but unfortunately it no longer has auto tracking. I’ll try it tomorrow on the camera at work. Thanks mate
