Connecting speaker to get audio notifications

Hi all

I have just joined as I am a little stuck on setting up a speaker so when a specific event is triggered it not only beeps on the NVR but also through a speaker, the NVR is on the top floor of the premises and I need to setup a speaker in the office on the ground floor so when people enter the yard the staff are made aware of their presence.

The main entrance camera is the only one we need this for and it is already setup and making a beep when anyone crosses the threshold.

The NVR is a HikVision DS-7608Nxi-K2, it has an single RCA/LINE in and a Single RCA/LINE out and also has an alarm input/output connector, this is labelled 1234 (in), GG and 1A 1B (out).

I have already done some research and I have found a way to connect a speaker via the RCA/LINE out, but I am unsure if this will carry the beep signal from the NVR, as it seems this is only for 2 way audio.

Does anyone know if I use the RCA/LINE in this way it will carry the NVR signal for event alerts, or do I need to use the alarm signal connector, and if I have to use this connector what would I need to purchase in order to use it?

No you won't get the beeps or any alerts through that output. I'm not sure what you mean by the 'alarm signal connector'; there's no connector on the NVR to give you alerts. A couple of ways you could achieve alerts the way you want:

1 - Hik-Connect. If the NVR is connected to Hik-Connect, a tablet logged into the same account will receive push notifications that are audible. The Hik-Connect app does not need to be running in the foreground for the notifications to be received. This might not be loud enough.

2 - 12V piezo sounder. Configure your events to trigger the NVR alarm output. Using a small external 12V adaptor at the NVR, connect that to the sounder switching the supply through the alarm output (you may need a relay depending on the load of the sounder). I'd probably get a 1 gang light switch and surface box, pop the piezo inside it and run the connection through that switch (so that the staff can turn it off if necessary)

3 - Wireless Doorbell. Configure your events to trigger the NVR alarm output. Get a wireless doorbell kit and solder a pair of wires across the contacts for the bell push. Connect those to the alarm output. Place the chime in a convenient location. When the event occurs, the alarm output will trigger the bell push momentarily causing the chime to activate.

I wasn't sure what the connector on the back of the NVR was called, I have included a picture of the rear of the NVR with the connector highlighted in red, I believe this to be the "alarm output"?

I will have a chat with the boss and see which way they want to go, but it is good knowing it is possible.
