Why is my time and date pixelated?

I have a Hikvision dome camera which displays some characters in the time and date as pixelated squares as you can see in the image:

It's not always the same characters - sometimes it the minutes, sometimes the hours; it's very intermittent.
It isn't just on the live view, it also comes out on downloaded video too.

That's an odd one, I've never seen that before.
Is it a Western Region (UK/Europe) model camera?
Are you running the latest firmware?

As far as I know it has the latest firmware.

I believe I have solved it by logging in and changing the time and date background colour to transparent. Not sure what is should be but this seems an obvious choice. Seems to work though!!

Sounds like it had one of 'those' moments perhaps??????
