Hi all,
I'm new to all of this so any suggestions would be fully appreciated.

I'm wanting to survey the front of my house, especially my car parked on the street.
There is a street light 10m away from where it is parked.
I only need/want 1 turret camera, which will be positioned around 6m high.
The car will be around 10m from the camera.

After some reading about the different pieces of kit, does this sound about right?

Camera - DS-2CD238FWD-i
NVRS - DS-7608NI-K1 (external power adapter)
HDD - WD40PURZ (going away for up to 14 days at a time)

I'll be using my PC monitor.

Many thanks,

Steven

Sounds fine. Send a link to the camera, I can't seem to locate it unless it's a variant of the DS-2CD2355FWD-I. The camera will need a PoE injector if the NVR has no PoE ports (which it looks like, best double check when you purchase it).

Thanks for the reply.
Yes you're right, I missed a 5 - it's

DS-2CD2385FWD-I 1

Regarding those PoEs, this looks a goer:

DS-7600NI-K1

FYI the K series does not allow image capture. Something I find maddening. For example, if you want to save a screen capture during playback. The I series does however. The DS-7600 range (as do most of the NVRs) have the option of purchasing with or without onboard PoE ports. That might be a consideration.
