i find this forum very usefull.
im in IP cam business some time now, mostly working with hikvision. but never experienced this odd problem.

setup is: DS-2CD2342WD-I camera ,PoE switch and DS-7608NI-E2/A server..
cammera working 2weeks with no problem, then suddenly no more-it was on DEFAULT settings. ok set up one more time, update FW to 5.4.4,hopefull this will work. but today same thing happens.
the other cam is same model and working with no problem.
is just faulty cam?or some possible fix?!

tnx

I can't think of anything that might cause this on that model camera.
It has no reset button.
It's probably best to speak to your supplier, and perhaps return it for testing.

I have had exactly the same issue with my DS-2CD2342WD-I in the last two weeks. It happened first time on Saturday 23rd Sep at 12:57 and then again on Friday 29th Sep at 02:14. The camera fully resets and returns to default settings including being inactive and requiring reactivation with SADPTool.

I'm sorry to inform you that it is most likely that your HikVision cameras have been hacked.

Please read the information here for an understanding of the hack:
https://forum.use-ip.co.uk/threads/hikvision-firmware-updates-backdoor-exploit-fully-disclosed.1296/

Then seek the latest firmware from HikVision's download portal, currently V5.50 for that HikVision 2342 camera model (R6 Family):
https://forum.use-ip.co.uk/threads/hikvision-firmware-update-v5-50.1321/

Some basic guidance and tips on how to update your firmware here:

ok i will try to update all of my cameras and server. both cameras are restarted to factory for some strange reason. a doubt it is hacked,it must be some other reason(first camera was on factory reset with latest FW on)

i will try latest tw on all devices and cancel port forwarding to test

edit: updated cameas to v5.5.0 and testing. tnx for reply

Thanks Phil. I have updated to latest firmware and will hope that fixes the issue.
I was a couple of firmware versions behind, and I did have to apply each one, it wouldn't let me jump to the latest.

Do you have to upgrade to each firmware version in succession? Or can you just download 5.5?

It seems to depend upon how far out of date you are.
If you are a long way behind you will need to step forward one update at a time.
At some point, some previous version, it will allow you to update to the latest (V5.50).
I'm sorry, I don't know what version you need to get to in single steps before you are able to update to the latest.

I was about 5 versions behind and I had to apply each one in order. I also had to reboot the pc I was using whenever the update required a new plugin at the pc end.
