cannot find this on hikvision site for the life of me

running v3.4.80 believe there is a later version

Odd, This download list appears to apply to your model, but the latest version is 3.4.0:

You can check the Release Notes to confirm that your model is cited.

I'm looking after two of the exact same model with same firmware that appears to be newer thats on their site

When you 'Extract All' and unpack it, it contains:
DS-71727381HQHI-FN__7276HUHI-FN_ML_STD_V3.4.81_Build170227
(dated 19-10-2017)

Therefore, I suspect this is your next firmware.

In my experience HikVision devices do not allow you to load/upgrade with incorrect firmware.

You might want to check with HikVision Tech Support.

sorry i meant like most other units have gone through maybe 5 or six updates since the 4.80 series

this has gone up one level from .80 to .81

when other units have had .82 .83 .84 .87 .90 .91 etc

as the .81 is date 21/02/17

I suspect that HikVision only actively develop the current/latest series of devices (NVRs & cameras).
Other/older devices effectively get frozen, with only the minimal updates for security implemented as & when .

My DVR shows model number: DS-7208HQHI-F1 , Firmware Version: V3.4.75, Build 160918.
Is this model same as DS-7208HQHI-F1/N or it is different?

I would think it is the same.
