Hikvision 7604 NVR "Virtual Host" Feature disabled at reboot

Hi, I have a DS-7604NI-K1 / 4P(B)

I have the virtual host setting set up and working in order to FTP images to a server from one of the cameras periodically.

My issue is that the "Enable Virtual Host" tick box keeps on resetting itself to be off stopping my camera to server FTP connection from working.

It seems to be fine for days before resetting.

Re-booting the device does seem to be a cause, however it has happened at times when I have not rebooting - knowingly!

Does anyone have any thoughts on what might be the cause? Any assistance would be appreciated? Or perhaps how to get a notification when it does happen?

Thanks

Check the logs in Config to see whether you can see if/when/why it is rebooting.

Hi, the log entries below are from when I know it stopped working last time, it seems that there was an "Abnormal Shutdown", however I am not sure what would have caused that?

Note there is only a single camera connected at the moment.

So it would seem the reboot is the cause of the lost setting, why it rebooted is one question, but the loss of the virtual host setting remains. T

Thanks

I have just done a reboot via the web interface and the virtual host setting was lost during it, so I am able to reproduce the issue if that helps?

I'm not sure what's going on here.
No other reports of similar.
I had thought that Virtual Host only provided a simple means of accessing cameras that are directly-connected to the NVR i.e. provides shortcut hyperlinks from the Camera Management page right column.

Could you add the camera that you need to ftp from to your general LAN?
Then manually add it with its LAN IP address to your NVR.

This happens for me too - same NVR, latest firmware, and has happened on all firmwares since I've used virtual host. I've just learnt to live with it and added it to my "fix this after power cut" list.

It happens to me too.

But my issue is slightly different. ...If I switch it on, it stays on for a a day or so, then switches itself off.

Hi Phil, thanks for your suggestion. I could that but as I need to do the same thing with a couple of the camera's the physical infrastructure would require a new PoE switch etc. So TBH I would prefer to get the Hikvision equipment to function properly.

That said I thought that perhaps it had been resolved with the re-saving of several of the settings, however, it rebooted again last night with a "Local: Abnormal Shutdown" log entry. The re-boot again unset the "Virtual host" setting preventing the direct camera access.

I may try to put a UPS at the NVR to see if that helps, however, I am not hopeful on that front.

What would be an acceptable workaround for me is simply to know that it has rebooted, allowing me to reset the "virtual host" setting.

Does anyone know of a method to set the NVR to alert me via email that there has been a reboot?

I know there are alerts for power loss and network loss, but I have not seen anything for just a reboot.

A power loss alert might do the job, I have only found a setting relating to a camera power loss rather than the NVR though and I wonder if that will work if its a full system power loss? Could you point me to the right setting if possible please? Thanks.

Middle of the work day here, so it'll be several more hours before I can get home and look at the menus. If you can wait, I'll respond later.

Neil,

My apologies. I was wrong. If you go to Config, Event, Basic Event, Exception, there is a dropdown box with several additional notifications such as IP conflict, network disconnect, etc. Power loss is not there, but I'd have bet you twenty bucks it was.

I have been looking more closely at the logs and there are a lot of motion detection entries around the time of the shut down so I wonderer if that might be a sign of heavy activity. I have switched off motion detection for now as it records 24/7 to see if that helps - it won't of course solve the issue of the "virtual host" setting being lost on reboot, but maybe it will solve the reboot issue. I've also set some loss of LAN alerts up to see if that might trigger an alert on power loss, which i'll post about once i've been able to test it.

A brief update in case it is of use to others...

Since making the change to the motion detection the system seems to have remained stable with no unplanned reboots, so that may have been the issue.

A week ago I also added a UPS to help smooth the power supply, although I suspect that was not at issue.

In terms of alerts, the loss of camera signal alerts seems to trigger after a power restart so hopefully, if necessary, that can act as an alert to check the virtual host setting, should there be a re-boot.

So the although the initial reason for posting is still not solved ref the loss of the virtual host setting, at least these workarounds are helping.
