Higher quality playback

I have my DS-2CD2355FWD-I 's recording at a high quality. When I go to Playback under the web interface (IE11) the video seems to be fairly low quality, for example, I cannot identify a person's face about 2m in front of the camera at 8pm (dark). Does anyone know what i'm doing wrong? I presume there is only 1 video saved so I can't just flick to HD?

You'll see that my Video Quality is set to Highest, and yours is set to Medium.

What firmware version are you running please?

You need to access the Maintenance page for each camera and the NVR to upgrade its firmware:

Ah, so each camera has it's own web UI too, i've been accessing everything through the NVR web UI. I'll try that tonight

Yes.
If your cameras are directly connected to your NVR you may need to enable Virtual Host to access them:

Yeah they are, and I can't access them directly via IP address, i'll give that a go
