Heyo, need your expertise on the two models DS-2CD2T42WD-I5 Exir 4mm vs. DS-2CD2T23G0-i5 4mm. The local CCTV guy installed the DS-2CD2T23G0-i5 4mm instead of the agreed DS-2CD2T42WD-I5 Exir 4mm and now claims its the same quality.

Is he right? Thanks for helping!!!

Well, here's my thoughts:

I have never heard of the second model number camera (2T23).
Whilst the first part code (2T42) is a standard camera in the UK - not a current/latest model, from the EasyIP 3.0 / G1 Series (that would be 2T35/55/85).

I Googled the 2T23:
Hikvision Europe

It is a 2MP camera.
You were expecting a 4MP camera (the 2T42).

The 2T23 is a newer model from the EasyIP 2 Plus range e.g. it offers h.265+
But only half the resolution of the 2T42 4MP from the EasyIP 2.0 range.
Both have the same IR range - up to 50m.
Both will be EXIR.

Thanks for your help!! But where do you see that the 2T23 is also EXIR? I dont see that feature in the specs on the Hikvision website for that model.

But where do you see that the 2T23 is also EXIR?

It is my assumption due to the construction, and because I recall that when they first introduced EasyIP3.0 they forgot to mention EXIR on the datasheets, even though it was clearly stated on the product boxes.

Prior to EXIR their technology was the traditional ring of LEDs around the lens.
You'll see that on predecessor models such as the 2632 and 2032.
I cannot find any statement to back up my assumption.
There is very little info on the EasyIP 2.0Plus models.

Ok I see. The cams have definitely not a ring of IR Leds, they have 2 LEDS, one on the left and one on the right of the Lens. Dont know if thats an indication for EXIR.

Here is a latest model EasyIP 3.0 Series 2T35 model similar to yours:

Photo of the product box clearly showing it is EXIR:
