For over 3 months I have been looking on Ebay for Genuine Hikvision DS-2CD2742FWD-I so far I have bought 2 however both of them had to be returned due to not working .

My system is about 18 months old and have 3 x DS-2CD2742FWD-I and 3 x DS-2CD2T42-I5 and 1 x DS-2CD2642FWD-I or the past 18 months I have replaced 2 x DS-2CD2T42-I5 with DS-2CD2742FWD-I however over the past 3 months I have bought 2 more Hikvision DS-2CD2742FWD-I and every one has not worked it all lights up but when you check on the camera menu there is no model number or firmware I have attached a screen grab plus when you try to make any attempt to upgrade all you get is " ATTENTION " Current extermal storge does not exist or is damaged . Please check and refresh the list .

Both of the sellers of these cameras have told me that both cameras came from the main Hikvision dealer and that there genuine one even sent me a picture from the camera telling me he used the hikvision SADP tool to get this camera to work . As far as I know these cameras are plug and play thats what there set up in the menu any thoughts from any body REALor FAKE all I know is every time I send them it cost me £11.00 postage

Not seen that before.
Is your NVR on the latest available firmware?
The new cameras could have arrived with a newer firmware version than those you are currently running.
Some sort of glitch related to that?

Hi Phil yes your thinking the same as me but I did check the firmware on the NVR and it said it was up to date as for all the other working cameras i have attached a screen grab and there all working fine . My NVR is connected 24/7 to the Hikvision web site but this has happen twice the year in the last few months You plug in the new camera and within a few minutes it should fire up but I get nothing so if you go into the camera menu and check the camera details there is no model or firmware fitted and if you try and update that camera it just says " There is nothing connected " this has happen twice in the past 3 months . So in the end I have returned the camera . But as you can see on the screen grab on all my other cameras they all come up with model number and firmware fitted . But on the other camera its showing as if nothing was connected to the port 1 .If this is a fake camera what should I get ? . Yes I have connected my spare camera to the same cable and that works fine so its not the cable .I am about to buy a third DS-2CD2742FED-1 and if thats the same I am at a miss what is wrong .

Just to clarify, your NVR won't know/indicate if it is on the latest firmware - you need to check at the HikVision portal to see what the latest firmware available for your NVR model number is:
DOWNLOAD PORTAL

I have no idea how a 'fake' camera might behave, if it was simply a wrong region camera i.e. one intended for the Chinese market, then it would still show its serial number etc.

You could also try connecting the camera directly to your LAN, to see whether SADP will find it and whether you can access it.

Hi Phil thanks for the information I have attached 2 screen grabs showing the NVR firm ware is up to date . I am about to buy a third camera and will see if thats the same as the others that were returned .If it is I will try and connect via Lan but the seller told me he got it to work via the hikvision SADP tool .

I've never seen an HikVision NVR display that "you have the latest firmware message".
There are several newer firmware versions for your NVR here:

This is sounding a bit strange but the NVR is connected 24/7 to there site for my remote viewing . I have a new DS-2CD2742FED-1 arriving tomorrow if that is the same as the other cameras that have been returned I will look more at the NVR firmware installed on the NVR but you can see what happens if you try and upgrade all I get is " You have the latest firmware installed message " So watch this space after I have plugged the other camera in tomorrow . But all my other camers work fine .

Hi Phil

I can now see what you mean as far as upgrades go it would seem the only way to upgrade is by going to the Hikvision site down loading suitable firmware to a USB stick then plugging the stick into the NVR and doing a manual upgrade .
I only hope that by installing this new firmware that my NVR still works . Now the ser numbers look good on my camers and the NVR because on the Hikvision site it does warn of fakes with every thing closing down .

Cameras on my system are :-
DS-2CD2742FWD-I Firmware installed V5.4.3 Build 160 x 3
DS-2CD2T42-I5 Firmware installed V5.3.3 Build 150 x 3
DS-2CD2642FW Firmware installed V5.3.8 Build 151 x 1

NVR
HIKVision DS-7608NI-E2/8P/A 8 Channel Firmware installed V3.4.2 Build 160226

As far as I know my system is Genuine so all cameras and NVR should upgrade I got these links of Hikvision today so I think all I can do is try and upgrade one of my spare cameras and see if it reboots after upgrade assuming that it will still work with my NVR running firmware thats a year old .

Links I was given by Hikvision are :-

DS-2CD2T42-I5

DS-2CD2642FW

Any thoughts Phil should all camera firmware work with my current NVR firmware .As I might go from a working system to a non running system .

Cheers

Sorry, I missed your last Post.
It's important that you keep your cameras and NVR up to date with the latest firmware.
Manufacturers implement solutions to security issues.
You need to check their portal for the latest firmware.
If you have Western Region cameras and NVRs from legitimate suppliers you won't have any problems.
