Hi

Recently installed had a Hikvision DS-7604NI-K1/4P with two DS-2CD2385FWD-I and two DS-2CD2355FWD-I turret cameras. I noticed in the playback area that files are 1GB per hour on the 5MP camera however on the 8MP cameras each file is still 1GB but covers circa 3 hours. All codec and frame rate settings are the same, does anyone know why the 8MP seems to compress more footage into 1GB?

Thanks

Harj

Hi, I've not seen this reported before.
If you are correct, then I can't explain it.

Are you sure that as well as selecting Video Encoding as h.265, that H.265+ is set to ON for all the cameras?

attached are the screenshot from the 8 and 5 MP cameras.

Are the scenes very different?
Scene complexity will make a difference to the bandwidth storage used.
I was testing recording a 5MP camera to microSD the other day and was surprised that calculations indicated I'd be able to record to the card for 83 days - the camera was laying on my desk pointing at a plain painted wall indoors with zero activity.

Yes they are the front scene looks out onto a road with a car passing once an hour or so, whilst the garden camera scene is very still with very little movement.

Perhaps that would explain it?
