Did you know that DS-xxxx NI-K2/K4/K8 series NVR can use same firmware as DS-xxxx NI-I models?

This is because they share the same platform - K51 (you can also see this in the zip file name when downloading). So although the specs are different they run on the same underlying architecture and thus the firmware is interchangeable.

Hikvision even say so themselves, in the release notes for recent V4 firmware. See the screenshot below:

The above is taken from the latest release notes doc on the V4 firmware (EU portal).

I've just tested the new V4.1.64 firmware on the DS-7608-NI-K2/8P and it's fine, everything works. This is with DS-2CD2385FWD-I cameras.

Really interesting...

Questions? Just ask... let's discuss. As always, play with firmware at your own risk!

PLEASE NOTE: The DS-76xx NI-K1 and DS-76xx NI-K1(B) are a different platform - K53 and can not support the above. Do not attempt to load K51 firmware on a K53 unit and vice versa.

Happy for you to continue testing and feed back what you find.

Many -I NVR owners had to revert due to issues with this firmware on their NVRs.

Hikvision removed the .70 & .71 firmware versions from their European and UK portals.

We await new updates ...

Oh, absolutely. I'm not recommending specific versions, this post was more about the fact the firmware is the same. So you could load the current recommended V4 firmware on the K2/4/8 :)

Actually it was V4.1.64 I installed after all :)
