Hi
@Nicholast
Unfortunately, the Hikvision range is so vast and the product codes keep twisting/changing that it is hard to properly explain the product naming convention for the Hikvision products. In regards to cameras, the key things you need to know is that there are 2 main ranges - AcuSense cameras (2xx
6G2) & ColorVu cameras (2xx
7G2).
Within these ranges, there are 7 main styles of camera:
Turret (2
3x6G2/2
3x7G2)
Dome (2
1x6G2/2
1x7G2)
Mini Dome (2
5x6G2/2
5x7G2)
Bullet (2
Tx6G2/2
Tx7G2)
Mini Bullet (2
0x6G2/2
0x7G2)
Varifocal Dome (2
7x6G2/2
7x7G2)
Varifocal Bullet (2
6x6G2/2
6x7G2)
Each of these models is then available in either 4MP (23
46G2), 6MP (23
66G2), or 8MP (23
86G2) but in most cases, we only recommend 4MP or 8MP options as not all models are available in 6MP because it is a bit of middle ground (not a noticeable improvement over 4MP but not as good as 8MP).
That should give you a basic understanding of the core of the product codes, if you want to better understand features like AcuSense, ColorVu, Live-Guard, and Hybrid Light then read the below forum threads:
To further add to our forum post Hikvision Easy IP 4.0 vs Easy IP 3.0 vs Easy IP 2.0+. What is the difference? I wanted to explain the differences between the three technologies found within the Easy IP 4.0 range. Hikvision have expanded the Easy IP 4.0 range a great deal in the past year...

Over the last couple of weeks, you may have seen a couple of threads here at the forum discussing new Hybrid Light cameras from Hikvision. The information we had on these cameras initially was quite vague but with the help of Hikvision Support we now have a bit of a better understanding of this...

The new ColorVu with Smart Hybrid light cameras are now available. As previous posts have detailed these are a hardware enhancement to the existing second generation ColorVu with AcuSense cameras, using the same G5 firmware. First generation ColorVu and AcuSense cameras...

The AcuSense cameras are "powered by Darkfighter" so should give a similar low light performance to the 2385G1 camera, but if you want to keep the camera in day/colour mode 24/7 you might actually want to consider a ColorVu model as these have improved lenses/sensors to achieve a much better colour image in low light.
