Browser compatibility with HikVision

My response today to this oft-asked question about which browsers will still work with HikVision:

Internet Explorer is the surefire solution – most reliable.

Edge does not work.

I use Chrome all day every day vie the IEtab extension - Hikvision's plugin for Google Chrome is unsupported

You can only use Firefox if you stick at their ESR release version - Hikvision plugin doesn't work in Firefox

Safari on a Mac should be fine.

I can add to this that IE 11 works fine on my two main work horse PC's.

But......

On the primary office PC; Win7P; it was basically unable, IE crashing after logging in almost every time.
Was able to resolve the issue by disabling the LastPass Toolbar (LogMeIn Password Manager); in the IE add-ons.

Tried disabling the add-ins one by one to see if there was an offender. Last LastPass was the one that fixed the issue.

That said, the Win10P Toshiba laptop I'm typing this on is just fine, IE11, LastPass running, no issues.

on the imac, firefox cant install the plugin as exe and safari works after a plugin install but you keep getting a update plugin
