Just recently installed 4 x 8mp cameras from hikvision. Used cat6 cable as i got it free to save on money, now when ive installed the cable and tested it, it all passes fine but only 1 camera is working. When i tried the other cameras in my cat6, no joy what so ever, the cameras would not work only the 1. Now when i tried them on a pre made ethernet cable they worked? How can this be? Im seriously lost, everything says the cable is faulty or the terminations but yet they are passing with my tester, which is also not faulty as ive tested that too? Any suggestions?

Cheers

Typical testers only make a very basic continuity / pin-out check.
They do not check adequately to ensure that your cables will deliver the full frequency/bandwidth.

If your cameras work OK with short/bought patch leads, but not when connected via your home-made cables, then the problem is very likely with the cable that you used or the terminations.

Sorted it phil! The crimpers i have been using werent crimping properly. Since bought a decent ratchet set and seems to have done the trick
