hi - can anyone tel me if i can annke NVR pick up extra cameras on my network ?

I would imagine so, most NVRs will let you add cameras also connected to your LAN. I'm not familiar enough with Annke to know the process, but this guide by them might help:
Adding the Online IP Cameras on Annke NVR
If by 'extra' you mean more than 8 cameras, then I'm afraid not - the number of channels denotes the maximum number of cameras that can be added (either picked up from your network or directly connected by ethernet cable).
