Adding Hikvision cameras to OTHER brand NVR?

I have recently purchased a DS-7608NI-I2-8P nvr and DS-2CD2383G0-I camera from useIP.

My plan is a new HikVision system at home, but I want to reuse my old NVR (Vortec 8ch POE) at the in-laws with new HikVision cameras. Currently trying to add the HikVision camera to the Vortec NVR to sort any issues whilst its still running.

The Vortec NVR finds the HikVision camera but doesn't accept my HikVision user and password (that I know are correct.) I have the camera working on HikConnect.

Please can someone help me to connect to other NVR.

If your Vortec NVR supports ONVIF it should be possible. Activate ONVIF on the camera and add a user. Keep us posted.

I was missing the add a ‘ONVIF’ user, thinking I had the HikVision login, but they are separate user accounts.
