Adding camera audio to my Kare DVR?

I have a kare 4 channel h264 dvr all of which work fine. What I need is sound on one or maybe 2 cameras. The monitor I use is not equipped with audio output but the dvr is. This could be probably overcome by using a speaker which I don't think would be a problem. The biggest problem seems to be the microphone. The simplest and cheapest solution would be a microphone attached to the camera, but how good are they? The other solution would be a Poe camera but could I replace just one camera and leave the others as they are? and of course would they be compatible with my dvr.
Then of course their is the cost.
It seems what started as a relative simple problem has turned into a minefield.
Can anyone help?

Hi @g. triffitt

From a quick google search, it would look like the KARE recorder you have is fully analog so would not support an IP/PoE network camera.

This means your only option would be an external mic, but we have no experience directly connecting microphones to an analog DVR so would not know what equipment to best recommend.
