You're right, some of the features on a camera are not able to be accessed by an NVR. With your DS-7608NI-E2-8P you can use a feature called Virtual Host to directly access your cameras through the NVR, which acts somewhat like a bridge. Have a read through of our guide on using Virtual Host.
