Hi Everyone.

Following a recent break in, in an attempted to steal a car we are beefing up security at home.

I'm fairly hands on and like to do things myself so buying a kit and doing the install would be my preferred option.

I'm looking to cover all areas of the external property and would like to have a system that produces images good enough to clearly identify anyone day or night.

I've been looking at 4 camera turret systems so far.

I've been looking and liked the sound of active detterant cameras but i'm now led to believe that these may compromise night vision?

The system I've been quoted for at the moment consists of

4 x Dahua IPC-HDW3849H-AS-PV-S4 cameras

1 x Dahua NVR4104 with 2TB HDD

I'm also wondering if it would be possible to turn the Active Detterant off/on via an app for instance when returning and leaving home?

I'm attaching a sat view of the property to give an idea of the area to be CCTV'd

Any advice or recommendations would be most welcome.

Hi there,

It sounds like you're putting great effort into securing your property. Your choice of Dahua IPC-HDW3849H-AS-PV-S4 cameras and NVR4104 is excellent, offering reliable surveillance with clear images day and night. However, I’d recommend considering HDCVI technology as an alternative. HDCVI is cost-effective, especially if you already have coaxial cabling, and delivers high-quality video comparable to IP cameras. It also supports long-distance transmission and reliable night vision without compromising performance. HDCVI systems, like a 4-channel DVR with 4K or 5MP cameras, could meet your needs effectively, including clear identification of individuals. If you prefer to stick with IP cameras, the Dahua system remains a solid choice, and most active deterrent cameras allow toggling features like lights or alarms via an app. Here you can buy HDCVI cameras simply visit https://www.techscopic.co.uk/ and enjoy. Let me know if you have any questions or need further recommendations!
