Issue: NVR2 Experiencing Slow Performance in iVMS Live View and Playback

We have two NVRs installed in the Network Operating Room (NOR). However, when accessing NVR2 from other locations, it experiences slow performance in the iVMS application, including:

  • Lag in live view (main stream)
  • Slow downloading of recorded footage
  • Frame drops and skipping
This issue does not occur when accessing NVR2 from within the NOR.

Findings:

  • NVR1 ping response: ~1ms from any location (No issues)
  • NVR2 ping response: ~1ms within the NOR, but over 65ms when pinged from my office (same network), which coincides with the slow performance.

Additional Details:

  • NVR Models & Firmware:
    • NVR1: DS-9632NI-I8, FW 4.1.64 b190119 (No issues)
    • NVR2: DS-9664NI-M8, FW 4.61.410 B221123 (Experiencing issues)
  • Network settings are identical for both NVRs
  • Both use static IP addresses
  • Both are installed in the same location (NOR)
  • Both are connected via the same network switch, VLAN, and fiber optic cable leading to another area

Troubleshooting Attempts:

  • Swapped network ports and RJ45 cables between NVR1 and NVR2 → Issue persists on NVR2
Has anyone experienced a similar issue or have any suggestions on what might be causing this? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @chanchai

We can see that NVR2 is running quite old firmware, we would recommend that you update to each of the below firmware versions (one at a time) to get the NVR up to the latest firmware:

V4.63.006_230526
V5.03.000_240428
V5.04.020_250113

You should hopefully see improved performance once you have updated through all of these firmware versions.

When updating from V4.63.006 to V5.03.000 you will see some big changes, the V5 firmware introduces the new 5.0 GUI that makes the browser & direct monitor menus/interface look significantly different.

You can see some of those changes in these forum guides.

I really appreciate for your kind answer @Dan I will try to update the firmware. Thank you and have a good day.
