Back in April 2022 I updated the firmware on my NVR ds 7608ni 8p and started to get errors when trying to live view via hik connect. I solved the issue at the time by rolling back the update. However, I still get issues with playback not loading at times and getting stuck at 81% etc. This happens loads at the moment and I get the no more connections error after trying for a while. A right PITA.

In this time to now, has any update fixed any of these issues. My hik connect was updated in the September 27th 2024 release. My nvr is still on the 2022 pre april update due to those green screen issues back them. Did these ever get fixed?

Yes, I'm pretty certain that updating the NVR firmware to the latest will resolve it for you.

A few users in this thread said V4.61.025 fixed it for them, and we've not seen any reports of it again since:

There are also a few comments at the end of that thread that mention other fixes in the settings (comments #52 and #54).

I'd update the firmware before anything, and as you're a little behind, it's best to do update to each version incrementally - all of the previous versions are here.

Side note - I recall there being an I-Series firmware update that stopped you being able to reach the login page - if that happens, delete your cookies for your NVR's webpage and reload with fresh cache (Ctrl+F5), which will resolve it.

If i remember correctly i have to down load an update and then update it 1 at a time or it could crash?

I open my nvr on the web page and update it there? Sorry its been a while.

I do know i had issues once where it lost all its settings doing an update and i had a job re putting everything back in to get it working again.

This was my original post which was actually from Jan 2022

Looks like i have 7 updates to do.

once downloaded as zip files, do i need to unzip first or just pick the file to the nvr?

Ps is it 1 file at a time or can i jump 1 and do ever 2nd file?

Hi @Vauxfan

Yes, everything you've said is correct.

You can update in steps but don't skip over firmware version more than one sub-version ahead (e.g. if you are currently on V4.51.005 you can update to first V4.60.xxx firmware, then the first V4.61.xxx firmware, and then the latest V4.61.030 firmware).

Just tried to upgrade and got importing configuration file failed.

Yeah that looks right but I get a message after the reboot message asking for the config password. It errors after that.

It sounds like you're trying to load the firmware file into "Device Parameter" section - upgrading the firmware shouldn't ask you for a password.

Are you definitely trying to import the firmware file into the section shown below?

Make sure that you're extracting the digicap.dav file from the zip folder too.

If it still doesn't work, try using the Batch Config tool for the upgrade:

Yeah definitely the right place. It is the digi file that I extracted the file from and put in to a folder of c drive

Done it. Updated it and had to clear cache as you said. But now when I log in to the Web page as soon as I press configuration button the screen goes white. It happens on chrome and edge. In fact on edge when I open the nvr page it doesn't even have the bar with the configuration button on it.

Which firmware version did you get to?
Try clearing your cookies and cache again (Edge is probably best).
Failing that, try Edge in IE mode until you get updated to the latest, or use the Batch Config tool linked in my post #10 (which doesn't need browser access or plugins to do firmware updates).

Is batch best then? I do get a pop up window now on the log in page asking for the log in and password before doing it on the page. Then another pop up on the nvr page says change password.
In the nvr it's self it does say 2 illegal log ins yesterday. I think I caused that by mistake logging in.

I only got to version 60 000

Is the batch configuration tool on the laptop or through the nvr?

Yes, best to use Batch Configuration to get all the updates done as it will probably be quicker too as you won't need to log into the NVR each time :)
You use it on the laptop - once you've installed it you'll see your NVR in the list at the bottom of the tool, shown in the screenshot in this post.

Add it to your main device list, then select it from the list, click Upgrade at the top, use the Upgrade by file option, load the digicap.dav file there and then click OK.
