G3 / G5 platform with NVR Region Firmware Compatibility Problems?

I've just spent 5 hours trying to figure out the difference between 3 identical cameras and why they won't all work with the same my NVR.

My NVR is a DS-7732NI-14/16P running V3.4.95 Build 170626 - serial number indicates RR.

The cameras are all DS-2CD2346G2-IU and all serial numbers indicate WR.

However, the firmware is a mess.

Two of the cameras (the ones that don't work) were on V5.7.13 Build 230504 which is G5 platform.
The other camera (which does work) is on V5.5.801 Build 211105 which is G3 platform and simply worked the first time I plugged it in directly to the NVR PoE port.

I upgraded the two G5 to V5.7.13 but Build 230706 which is the recommended on the web page and still no luck.

I can find the two G5's on the SADPTool and even on the NVR in the stage before One Touch Adding, where it can detect the camera and model number. However, when I try to add them, it connects then the warning message is simply: "Unknown Error".

I assume it's a firmware problem for interoperability between the older NVR firmware and newer G5 platform IP camera firmware. However, I'm hesitant to update my NVR firmware since for that model there's so many warnings even on the Hikvision website about the possibility of bricking it.

I first though it might be a region problem but all the cameras are WR and one works so that doesn't make sense.
I've hard reset the G5's a couple times.

I can stream a live view through the web gui with the G5 platform cameras and edited the IP address to match the internal NIC IP the NVR would try to assign it when connected to a specific port but also no luck - get the dreaded "Unknown Error".

I'm not really sure what to do to be honest, I wasn't expecting this initial set up to take more then ten mins this morning and now it's mid afternoon. Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated. It's my first post so if anything is wrong or need clarifying please let me know.
Thanks.

Hi @JeromeParsley

I think a big factor in why you are having issues adding these new models is that your NVR firmware is very old, that v3.4.95 firmware dates to 2017.

The latest firmware for this NVR is v4.61.025 and there are about 23 firmware releases between your current firmware and this latest version.

Luckily, you shouldn't need to update to every one of these firmware versions, but as you are so far behind it is still recommended that you update in steps. The rough steps are explained in this forum post:

What is basically being said in the above forum post is that you should update in the following steps:

- The last V3 firmware - V3.4.99 build180324
- The first V4 firmware - V4.1.10 build171107
CRITICAL. After installing the first v4 firmware & rebooting, the login page may fail to display. Regardless, close the browser, re-open and clear temporary internet files/browser history before navigating back to the IP address of the NVR
- The Last V4.1.xxx firmware - V4.1.64 build190119
- Then update to each firmware version where the 2nd digit of the firmware version changes, see the list below:

V4.22.005 build191208
V4.40.015 build200616
V4.50.000 build210125
V4.51.005 build210628
V4.60.000 build211129
V4.61.000 build220507
V4.61.025 build220905

Update through all of these versions one at a time and then once on the latest firmware all of the cameras should be working.
