Hello everyone im just after some information/advice/tips if anyone can help. Ive got 3x DS-2CD2347G2H-LIU and 1x DS-7604NXI-K1/4P(D) on order and wondering if anyone can tell me what features the camera has that the nvr doesn't to setup once I receive them? I was reading through the forum last night and come to realise that I don't actually need a AcuSense nvr if I have it within the cameras, and that I should setup all parameters within the nvr first so as not to overlap with the camera. However I have seen people say setup the features on the camera after setting up the nvr but im not sure what features that I should be looking for as ive never installed cameras/nvr before.

Ive had a look through previous posts and cant find anything directly relating to this so I apologise if there is a thread already , thanks.

That's correct. If you have AcuSense on the cameras you don't necessarily need it on the NVR. You will have an option to use the VCA (video content analysis) of the camera or the NVR. When setting up events on the NVR, ensure you elect to set that switch to 'VCA by camera'. The NVR can do it but it has finite resources that mean you generally cannot for instance have Line Crossing AND Motion Detection set for a camera simultaneously. That's not an issue if you do the AcuSense on the camera. The processing for smart events also tends to be better on the camera than on the NVR. That said there may be an option for a channel to use facial recognition on the NVR and you can use that.

Also correct. Set up everything you can directly on the NVR (but as above when prompted by the NVR event setup screen set the switch to 'VCA by camera each time'). It doesn't overlap the camera so much; the settings applied using the NVR are saved on the camera, however if you jump on the camera and set it up there, the NVR interface doesn't update immediately to reflect what the changes made (you can end up with the NVR displaying a previous setting until it catches up)

It's not so much an issue as it was a few years ago. Previously you could set up line crossing on the NVR but the boxes for minimum/maximum target size weren't configurable there whereas they are now. Just don't make the mistake of setting things on the NVR then repeating them on the camera thinking it's saved somewhere differently; when using the NVR you're effectively configuring the camera using the NVR.

Thanks for the reply mate, it was a lot of your comments I was reading, it seems like you are the guru of tech on here lol. Is there anything else I should be making sure I do/don't when it comes to setting the system up? Im a complete newbie here , had quotes off some local companies but they kept palming me off with POC and wouldn't give me quotes for POE so I am going to do it myself . Ive watched a few YouTube videos and read these forums and others to gather as much knowledge as possible, but I don't want to stress myself out when it comes to setting it all up haha! Appreciate the response mate thanks.
