    failed NVR POE port?

hikvision 4 port NVR and hikvision cameras. I’ve got one Poe port that has stopped powering. Tried resetting the NVR and switching the cameras around but it’s still the same port that won’t power. It’s is only 4 ports so I’m blind in one and it’s a concern. I’d like to try something before I...

    dreaded condensation

many thanks for the quick reply, I got similar advice from Exact cctv within minutes of emailing them, that can't be bad. Got it down and opened up and it's snuggled up in my airing cupboard. I used to have Avtech cameras and they had a recurring similar problem. Avtech told me their silica...

    dreaded condensation

My bullet camera 2CD2032, has chronic moisture on the inside of the lens. Worked fine in previous house with no condensation, was taken down in May this year, wrapped in bubblepack and taped in a cardboard box and stored in my garage until I re-installed it recently. It was previously installed...

    camera not retaining configurations

Thanks Kieran, just checked that. The NVR only gives access to brightness, contrast and saturation. Rotation and mirror. Nothing else.

    camera not retaining configurations

Hi all, having a bit of a conundrum. I've a turret camera capable of 2048 x 1536, DS-2CD2332. I open the configuratioons in iVMS and adjust to that resolution, I click 'apply' and see the camera switch to the new res, them as soon as that happens the camera switches back to 1920 by 1080. Doesn't...

Hikvision NVR. Lan connection v direct connection

I'm just completely ignorant as to how NVRs work. I'm still in software NVR mode :(. It was my habit to check footage and dump it as the HD filled up. I've since found an option in 'Record' menu to 'Rewrite" so I'm assuming that that instructs the NVR to do what you've described. I'd have...

Hikvision NVR. Lan connection v direct connection

Just as an update. I've been trawling the user manual for my DS-7600NI but CANNOT find any reference to 'deleting' recorded files. It's been my habit to check files in the am from my macbook, before I got the NVR, then deleting them after a day or two. So going through the recorded files on the...

Hikvision NVR. Lan connection v direct connection

Thank you Kieran, yes I activated everything manually as I'd already set the cameras up long ago with their various ips etc. So everything shows up on the network ok and just to be tidy I did give the NVR and the cameras the same password which has been accepted across the board as 'strong' so...

Hikvision NVR. Lan connection v direct connection

OK so I got an NVR. The NVR itself was dead easy to set up and I've got three cameras also set up with it. All fine you might say but here's where I'm confused. The only way I could get the NVR to 'add' the cameras was if they remained connected to the router. The NVR saw them on the network...

    Powerline adapters

Does anyone have any experience using these with their IP cameras ? I've been using them round my house and office which is adjacent to the house as a replacement for wireless and they are vastly superior to wireless performance and so far I'm greatly impressed. I need to do some renovation on...

New Western Digital Purple 8TB Hard Drive

Thank you for that review. I've an old mac in my office with 5 WD IDE drives in it, 12 years old and still working. Of all the drives I've owned or worked with in a college media suite the ones that have failed predictably have been Seagate. WD keep on trucking.

    iVMS-4200 compatibility

I've got a couple of Hikvision cameras and an Avtech. All have worked really well and I've been using them with Security Spy on a laptop which is Mac specific software. I'm moving to a Hikvision NVR tomorrow so I've been experimenting with iVMS-4200 CCTV software which is awesome. BUT it will...
