It is working! I think in the end it was an issue with DNS and it getting confused somewhere along the way as I have DNS set on the router which then connects to a Sky router on a different DNS, and then ofcourse there is Googles DNS on the NVR too. So it was definately an issue on my network...

Tried router dns as first option and 8.8.8.8 as second option and again it worked but once I reboot it stops working. NVR shows up greyed out in HikConnect. So as long as I don’t reboot it is working. Hmmm. I’m stumped.

Just rebooted the NVR and it’s disappeared from Hik Connect again. Register status on NVR platform access page is Offline again.

You will need one cable going from your Internet router to your NVR. Then one cable needs to go from the NVR's camera ports to your POE switch. Then plug all your cameras into the POE switch.

Very much doubt this is possible as the NVR would have to have some kind of receiver built in to receive the Microphones transmissions.

If using HikConnect then you dont need to setup any port forwarding.

To be honest, if I get an alert, the first thing I'll check is the live camera feeds to make sure all is OK at home. These work straight away. Then I will check the event if needed.

Only other thing I could think is possibly if your bandwidth is in high usage and it cant cope fetching the video.

If your TV has internet access then you could login to the NVR's web interface which will be the IP address of the NVR. Or if not then if you can connect a small computer at the back or maybe an amazon fire stick, you may be able to load Hik-Connect on to that. Youll need to check if the app is...

It seems to be working a lot better now. I get it a lot less. only thing I've changed is updating all firmwares to latest version.

Just a little update: I completely forgot to power cycle the NVR so that it would pick up the settings that had been changed in the camera. I should have remembered! Doh! All working perfectly now.
