It does sound like the hard drive is faulty but to rule out any issues with the NVR's motherboard, do you have another hard drive you could put in to test?

I didnt know about this feauture so had never setup any schedules. I have now set this up and now my kids dont set it off everytime they run outside.

Do remember that if you daisy chain switches then if one switch goes down then you've lost connection. This is why I prefer having seperate cables back to the router from all my switches.

I'd be tempted to just get a small tablet or old iphone and mount that at the door and install the HikConnect App on it and then you can have the feed showing on there.

Yes. You can have the cameras plugged into the same network. The cameras would need to be plugged into a POE enabled switch to provide power and then that switch connected to your home network that also has the NVR on it somewhere.

Firstly I would check the devices have been plgged in correctly and there are no loose connections, could be a dodgy cable. If nothing else has changed then there is no reason changing the cable itself should cause the camera to dissapear. I assume youve tried power cycling the NVR or camera?
