Door Entry Choosing a Hikvision IP video door phone?

Door Entry Choosing a Hikvision IP video door phone?

@sergey I can't think why you would need separate switches but I'm not a networking expert. Please do me the favour of complaining to Hikvision about this half-baked product. The more the merrier. Why do they include the ability to mask the 8003 camera detection zone if the camera doesn't...

    HikVision Intercom Options

My LAN is a mesh system so any device can plug in anywhere. My 8003 comes through the wall and plugs into a passive switch connected to one of my mesh nodes. It is then available to my PC, phone, etc. The first - sometimes only - indoor station (these are mini 7in or 10in monitors for wall...

Door Entry Choosing a Hikvision IP video door phone?

I think it's possible to record 8003 video to your PC via iVMS-4200 and without an NVR if you set up a storage server on a separate partition of your hard drive and after configuring it as the storage destination, choose "storage on the computer" and maybe it works.

    HikVision Intercom Options

I use the Hikvision DS-KD8003-IME1 for my electric gates with Cat6 burial grade gigabit copper core cable running underground in a duct to my house where it connects with my main indoor station (to which other indoor stations connect wirelessly). As a gate opener, doorbell and voice intercom, it...

Recommend me a cheap 2 camera CCTV set up please.

I'm sure Kyle or someone will pop up to suggest some options. Other decisions you need to make include whether indoor or outdoor use, desired focal length (how much real estate you need to see through the lens), how far and how clearly you need to see at night, whether you need to record audio, etc.

Recommend me a cheap 2 camera CCTV set up please.

You will struggle to get a complete POE kit for £300. If that's the limit, I would start off without an NVR and add one later if needed and if you want to spend the extra cash. Our esteemed host could sell you a couple of decent Hikvision DS-2CD2343G0-IU cameras at around £130 each and you would...

Recommend me a cheap 2 camera CCTV set up please.

If you want to record continuously 24/7 then I would advise getting an NVR but if you're happy to record only motion events you could simply record to the cameras' built-in SD card which can probably hold a month of event recordings before it starts to overwrite the earliest ones. Much also...

    Hikvision rj45 connections

I had trouble wiring my own RJ45s at the beginning but I now have almost 100% success rate since I cut the wires shorter than the illustrations in the guide I was following. The shorter wires stay together better and feed more easily into their channels. And yes, definitely use a [cheap] cable...

Bitrate ? related to grainy zoom image

Maybe you could post some images? Obviously there will be far less detail in a night shot - even a well-lit night shot - than a day shot. All night shots include a lot more noise and artifacts than day shots which makes night shots look grainier. And if you have DNR active for night shots, you...

Bitrate ? related to grainy zoom image

If you are zooming in to greater than 100% of the native resolution then you will always get pixellation. What device are you zooming in on and what is the resolution and bitrate set for that stream?

    MacOS Mac owners beware

After this morning's email correspondence with a Hikvision UK tech support agent, I have jumped off a bridge and will never buy another product from them. Mac owners beware. I have been reading the documentation for the new DS-KH9510-WTE1 and DS-KH9310-WTE1 indoor video intercom stations and...

    PTZ cameras with two-way audio?

I can't help you with that thing. If I wanted a dedicated Windows workstation (which I don't), I would buy one off the shelf (or build one) and configure it myself.

Door Entry How to access microsd recordings of a DS-KV6113-WPE1 video intercom or a DS-KH6320-WTE1 indoor station?

I still use it since it would ruin my gate pillars to dig it out of the brickwork. It does open the gates and the audio works but I bought it for the event video recordings. The software even includes a section for wasting your time masking the area of interest for Pete's sake! This should be...

Door Entry How to access microsd recordings of a DS-KV6113-WPE1 video intercom or a DS-KH6320-WTE1 indoor station?

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I made the same mistake as you in buying an expensive Hikvision video intercom in the belief that it would record video to the SD card in the indoor station. That's what these cameras do, right? But not this one. The camera does not record video to the...

    PTZ cameras with two-way audio?

Ah yes. Apart from sentimental reasons, they are objets d'art. I still have my first Mac - Quadra 840AV - which was over-specified for my needs at the time! And while my 5k iMac is a modern SSD/Retina marvel, the other daily runner on my desk is an ageing Mac Mini attached to a truly venerable...

    PTZ cameras with two-way audio?

Yes, it has been deprecated on all modern browsers for security reasons. But while it lasts, Internet Explorer on Windows still delivers; and so would an old Mac running Safari version 11. For the same reason, Flash will be killed off at the end of this year with new operating systems using HTML...

    PTZ cameras with two-way audio?

Trouble is, there aren't any better solutions for the Mac AFAIK. There's a cheap system (Reolink) which runs well on the Mac but I don't consider it a serious security system and it's not properly ONVIF-compliant so won't play well with any other brand of kit, nor can you access its cameras...

    PTZ cameras with two-way audio?

We Mac users are denied full functionality. There are many camera settings and controls on the Windows version of Hikvision's (free) iVMS-4200 desktop software which don't appear on the Mac version. And it is currently impossible to access the cameras' web config pages via and Mac browser (and...
